About Us

SFDR is a registered 501(c)3 Federal Tax ID #84-4298356 organization. We are an all-volunteer non-profit group of animal lovers, dedicated to saving the lives of the at-risk dogs of San Felipe, BC Mexico.

OUR VISION

San Felipe Dog Rescue envisions a community where every animal is cherished, protected, and given the opportunity to thrive. We strive towards a future where the bond between humans and animals is characterized by compassion, understanding, and mutual respect.

Our vision is to be a beacon of hope for the animals in our region, offering a haven where they can find safety, care, and a second chance at a fulfilling life. As we work towards this vision, we aim to not only rescue and rehabilitate animals in need, but also to actively engage with the local community while building a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic with low-cost veterinary options.

Through educational programs, outreach efforts, and collaborative initiatives, we seek to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership, humane treatment of animals, and the importance of spaying/neutering.

In our vision for San Felipe, our organization is a catalyst for positive change, inspiring individuals to become advocates for animals and ambassadors for their well-being. We see a future where the streets are free from abandoned and neglected animals, and where every member of the community is empowered to contribute to the welfare of our furry companions.

MISSION STATEMENT

San Felipe Dog Rescue exists to provide resources for assisting dogs in need in the San Felipe area. We will continue to do our very best at ensuring the health and well-being of every animal we are able to commit to as an entirely donation-based 501(c)3 non-profit.

While we strive to ensure the health and well-being of all animals, SFDR can only commit to assisting with the number of cases our current resources allow. This means that, unfortunately, we are not able to accept every animal presented to the rescue. We will continue to ensure SFDR only intakes the animals it can afford to treat, house and find homes for while providing the absolute best services possible for those animals we do commit to.

We cannot and will not act as Animal Control in San Felipe. We are not involved in monitoring or enforcing the local laws, and will never engage in that capacity. We do, occasionally, respond to animals in critical situations within the community but on a very limited case-by-case basis. We do our absolute best to provide a safe, loving environment to the animals in need in San Felipe.

San Felipe Dog Rescue will enthusiastically support development of the soon-to-be established Animal Control being established in San Felipe (expected to be functional in 2025).

We will expand and recruit a wider network of fosters who can responsibly ensure the well-being of our animals in their homes, allowing us to have more dogs in our care.

SFDR GUIDING PRINCIPALS

Comprehensive Rescue: We are dedicated to the compassionate rescue of animals in distress, prioritizing those facing neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Our rescue efforts are guided by the principle that every life is valuable, and we strive to provide immediate care and refuge to animals in need, prioritizing those with a critical need.

Adoption to Forever Homes: Our goal is to find loving and permanent homes for every rescued animal. Through responsible adoption practices, thorough screening, and educational initiatives, we hope to ensure that each adoption is a lifelong commitment, promoting the well-being of both the animals and their adoptive families.

Sterilization Advocacy: Recognizing the importance of population control, we are strong advocates for sterilization. Our organization actively promotes and provides affordable sterilization services to the community, aiming to reduce the number of unwanted animals and contribute to long-term animal welfare.

Collaboration for Impact: We actively seek collaborations with local partners, businesses, and other animal welfare organizations to maximize our impact. By working together, we can create a united front against animal suffering and build a stronger network of support for our shared mission.

Educational Empowerment: Education is central to our mission. We empower our community through educational programs that focus on responsible pet ownership, the humane treatment of animals, and the significance of sterilization. By promoting a culture of empathy and understanding, we strive to create a community that actively participates in the welfare of animals; while encouraging responsible pet ownership.

Holistic Veterinary Care: Our commitment to the well-being of animals extends to comprehensive veterinary care. We ensure that every rescued animal receives necessary vaccinations, medical treatments, and ongoing healthcare to address both immediate and long-term health needs.

Transparency and Accountability: We maintain a transparent and accountable
approach in all our activities. Our supporters, donors, and the community can trust that their contributions directly contribute to the welfare of animals, and we are committed to providing clear information on our operations and outcomes.

Positive Reinforcement Training: We believe in the power of positive reinforcement to nurture the behavioral and emotional well-being of our animals. We offer training programs focused on building trust, confidence, and positive associations, creating a foundation for strong human-animal bonds.

Cultural Sensitivity: Recognizing the diversity of our community, we approach our work with cultural sensitivity and inclusivity. We tailor our educational initiatives to respect local traditions while promoting universal values of compassion and responsibility towards animals.
