* Tuesdays – East Side Walks
We meet at the east gate (main entrance) in the Ejido. We walk dogs in the east kennel areas and what we refer to as the general population. We have a specific route we walk. If you are new, other volunteers can show you the ropes (or leashes).
New Volunteers are always welcome! Whether you are a seasoned pro or a first timer, we would love to have you join the pack!
If you are new to SFDR or new to dog walking, please let us know. You may ask for Laura F, Laura B, or our volunteer coordinator, Belle.
We strongly recommend letting us know in advance if you plan to join a walk.
Contact us at volunteers@sanfelipedogrescue.org
Please be sure to sign in and out on the volunteer form located in the entrance area. This allows us to track volunteer hours for grants and for organizations that ask about our level of community support.
Join us as we get our dogs out and about! Our group walks are a vital part of our mission, providing the physical and mental stimulation our dogs need to thrive outside of their kennels.
These bi-weekly outings are designed to:
- Burn Energy: Essential physical exercise for a happy, tired pup (and a healthy human!).
- Build Manners: Practicing leash walking and simple commands in a real world setting.
- Boost Confidence: Socializing dogs through new experiences to prepare them for their forever homes.
- Strengthen the Bond: Creating a meaningful connection between the dog and their handler through shared time and trust building outdoors.
